Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Facebook (FB) have removed controversial content on the grounds of hate speech, joining Alphabet Inc.'s YouTube (GOOGL) and Spotify (SPOT) in the censorship.
Apple removed five of six Infowars.com podcasts, including content from the daily "Alex Jones Show" hosted by Alex Jones, a controversial conspiracy theorist, and the “War Room” show. Apple removed all episodes of the podcasts from its Podcast apps and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:iTunes store, not just the episodes with offensive content, in wh🦩at some say is the largest move by a technology company to regulate content.
"Apple does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must f🔯ollow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users," an Apple spokesperson said . "Podcasts that violate these guidelines are removed from our directory making them no longer searchable or available for download or streaming. We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectfu😼l to those with differing opinions."
Facebook Removes More Content
Similarly, Facebook also removed pages with links that promoted Jones’ shows including the Infowars Page, 🧸the Nightly News Page, the Alex Jones Channel Page and the Alex Jones Page.
In a statement, it removed the content for breaking its standards by “glorifying violence, which viola🔜tes our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies."
"All four pages have been unpublished for repeated violations of Community Standards and accumulating too many strikes," Facebook said.
Last month, Facebook removed four videos featuring Jones and imposed a 30-day ban on his personal profile for content that the company said 🌟breached it💮s content guidelines.
