Update (Oct. 2, 2023): For today's live markets coverage, see here.

Stocks fell Friday after the morning's rally lost steam as Washington failed to pass a short-term spending leading, all but guaranteeing a government shutdown this weekend.

The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.5% to finish the third quarter down 2.6%. The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:S&P 500 lost 0.3% today, bringing its quarterly decline to 3.6%. The Nasdaq bucked the trend, finishing 0.1% higher Friday. Still, the index fell 4.1% from the end of June. This is the first🐼 quarter this year that any of the three indexes have lost ground.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Core inflation, as measured by the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, fell to 0.1% in August, its lowest in over a year. That put the annual rate at 3.9%—still well above the Fed's 2% target, but the first print below 4% in about two years.

Investors are a🐟lso watching Washington as the federal government appears all but certain to shut down this weekend. The White House told staff this week to prepare for furloughs. Conservative hardliners in the House of Representatives today killed a short-term spending bill, leaving little hope of a resolution.

Oil futures slipped Friday, while the dollar and boౠnd yields finished the day little changed.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Stocks gained yesterday as pressur✨e from a surg♑ing dollar and climbing oil prices and bond yields abated slightly.
