The Census Bureau  retail sales fell 1% last month, a steeper decline than the 0.3% drop economists anticipated. Hartford Financial (HIG) shares are down 3.5% in pre-market trading after the company reported preliminary financial results for the first quarter. The company said it earned $530 million or $1.66 per share, below analyst estimates.

Cryptocurrency investors are reportedly facing delays to withdraw funds deposited on the Ethereum blockchain after its major software upgrade. The cryptocurrency has had persistent problems as it aims to have the technology widely used for instant payments.
